Here’s an example:

Student:
I qualify under the Outstanding Scholar Program and am looking for an entry level position with the Social Security Administration. However, if too many qualified people apply for a position, can they eliminate that option or put in as many applicants as they choose?

Kathryn Troutman:
If you qualify for Outstanding Scholar, write that on your resume OUTSTANDING SCHOLAR, GPA ___ [insert number, ex. 3.5] OVERALL. Put this in bold caps. It doesn’t matter how many apply. Your status will help you compete for a higher grade for your first federal job.
